Worship

Regular worship was important to Jesus (Luke 4:16), essential to the early church (Acts 2:46-47), and integral to Christians throughout the ages. Regular weekly worship is important to us as well. A lot of different things happen in worship, but above all else, we seek and expect “an encounter with the living God through the risen Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit” (The United Methodist Book of Worship).

Worship Time and Style

We worship at 8:15 and again at 10:30 on Sunday mornings in a blended style that attempts to combine the best elements of traditional and contemporary worship. Our services usually run somewhere between 45 and 75 minutes (most often they come within a few minutes of an hour).

First Time Worshiping With Us?

What should you wear? We want you to feel comfortable at First. We are more concerned that you feel at home than if you are wearing the “right” clothes. Our philosophy is perhaps best summed up in this short rhyme posted by the door:

Suit and tie, or jeans and a tee, God welcomes you, and so do we.
